Need help using ConvertFree.net PDF tools and image converters? Start here to find step-by-step guidance, answers to common questions and tips for solving everyday file problems.

Getting started with PDF tools

All PDF tools on ConvertFree.net follow the same pattern: upload, choose options, convert, then download. You don’t need an account, and there are no software installations or browser extensions to manage.

  • Go to the tool you need, like PDF to JPG or Compress PDF.
  • Drag & drop your file into the upload area or click to select it.
  • Pick your settings (quality, pages, rotation, watermark, etc.).
  • Click the main button (Convert, Compress, Merge…) and wait for the result.
  • Download your converted file or ZIP using the download button.

File size limits & performance

ConvertFree.net is optimized for common everyday PDFs and images. For most tools, the maximum upload size is around 80 MB per job, depending on the tool and your connection.

  • Large, image-heavy PDFs can take longer to convert or compress.
  • If a job fails, try splitting the PDF using Split PDF first.
  • For many images, batch them into a few smaller uploads instead of one huge job.
  • Wait for the download to complete before closing the browser tab.

File safety & automatic deletion

Files are processed directly on our hosting using PHP and Imagick, without sending content to external conversion APIs. Temporary files are saved into tool-specific storage folders.

  • Uploads are used only to perform your requested conversion or optimization.
  • Automated cleanup removes old files from /storage folders on a regular basis.
  • Do not use the tools for highly confidential or regulated data.

Troubleshooting common issues

If something doesn’t work as expected, try the following steps:

  • Refresh the page and upload the file again.
  • Check your internet connection and browser extensions (especially ad-blockers).
  • Make sure the file is actually a PDF or image and not renamed from another format.
  • Reduce file size or split the document, then try again.

If you still need help, describe the issue using the Feedback form, including the tool name and approximate file size.

Best practices for better results

  • Use clear, non-corrupted source files whenever possible.
  • Combine tools into a workflow: e.g. MergeCompressWatermark.
  • For images, compress and resize before adding them back into PDFs.
  • Keep a backup of your original files before making heavy edits.

Help Center – Quick FAQs

Do I need to create an account to use the tools?

No. ConvertFree.net tools are available without registration. Simply open the tool you need, upload your file and download the result.

Why did my conversion or compression fail?

The most common reasons are corrupted files, unsupported formats or uploads that exceed size limits. Try splitting large PDFs, compressing images before upload or checking that the file is really a PDF/JPG/PNG/WebP and not just renamed.

Where can I report a bug or suggest a new tool?

You can send suggestions and bug reports through the Feedback page. Include as many details as possible: which tool you used, approximate file size and what went wrong.
