How ConvertFree.net Tools Work

Every tool on ConvertFree.net follows the same three-step process: upload your file, choose your settings, download your result. There's no software to install, no browser extension needed, and no account to create. All processing happens on our servers — your file travels from your device to our server, gets processed, and the output is immediately available for download.

All uploaded files and output results are permanently deleted from our servers within 5 minutes of processing. We do not read, analyse, store or share the content of your files for any purpose beyond performing the conversion you requested.

What Tools Are Available?

ConvertFree.net offers 40+ tools across five categories:

PDF conversion: Convert PDFs to and from JPG, PNG, Word (.docx), Excel (.xlsx) and PowerPoint (.pptx). Also convert Word and PowerPoint files to PDF.

Browser and Device Compatibility

All tools are tested and working on current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge on both desktop and mobile. For the best experience, use an up-to-date browser. JavaScript must be enabled for upload zones, drag-and-drop and the download triggers to function correctly.

If you encounter a problem specific to one browser, try switching to Chrome or Firefox as these have the broadest compatibility with the file APIs the tools rely on.

File Format Support

PDF tools accept standard PDF files (PDF 1.0 through PDF 1.7, including PDF/A). Image tools accept JPG, JPEG, PNG and WebP. Some tools also accept GIF. For conversion tools that accept Office documents (Word to PDF, PowerPoint to PDF), .doc/.docx and .ppt/.pptx formats are supported.

Files must have the correct extension and valid content — a file renamed from .docx to .pdf is not a real PDF and will fail validation. Always use files in their genuine native format.

First, check the file size is under 80 MB. If the file is large, use Split PDF to extract a smaller section and test with that. If the file was created by scanning, try re-scanning at a lower DPI. If it was exported from a design app, try re-exporting as PDF/A or with compatibility set to PDF 1.4.

This can happen when converting PDF to PNG (PNG is lossless and larger than JPG), when rotating a heavily compressed PDF (re-rendering adds some overhead), or when converting JPG to PNG. If you need the smallest possible output, use the Compress PDF or Image Compressor tools after conversion.

Yes. All tools are mobile-responsive and work in modern mobile browsers including Chrome for Android and Safari for iOS. Upload zones support file selection from your phone's gallery and cloud storage apps.

PDFs that contain mostly text, vectors and already-optimized images won't compress dramatically with image-based tools. Try the Strong compression preset. If the file was already created with an optimized PDF exporter, the gains will be minimal regardless of tool.
